False Solomon’s Seal (Polygonatum odoratum ‘Variegatum’) is a valuable addition to any shade garden, asking very little and returning much. The variagated nature is subtle, with leaves edged in creamy white, but the effect allows False Solomon’s Seal to function as a muted beacon in darker spaces.
False Solomon’s Seal has a fairly wide tolerance for growing conditions (and neglect) but direct sun and desert-like conditions are a no-no. Will thrive in rich, moist soils with shade or partial shade. False Solomon’s Seal grows 12-15 inches high or so and spreads into a colony of plants over the years.
