Lavender has traditionally not faired well in my gardens, the humidity and clay of the Deep South being particularly inhospitable to the Mediterranean nature of the genus. It can be done, growing Lavender successfully down here (as I am constantly reminded as I wander the neighborhood). Spanish Lavender saved me, and in my garden now Lavender flourishes.
